Tell me everything I need to know to change the radio on my 1999 Intrepid
So, long story short, my previous car (a 97 Intrepid) gave up the ghost. As such, I bought a 1999 Chrysler (because all Intrepids are Chrysler in Canada) Intrepid ES. I plan to soon remove the after-market radio/stereo (I just want to change the unit in the dash, not the speakers or amp or anything) from the 97 (which I installed myself) and swap it into the 1999.
Because I'm intimately familiar with Murphy's Law and the consequences of ignoring it, I figured I'd do some intelligence gathering prior to taking the plunge. I'm also classifiable as "extreme noob" when it comes to all things mechanical, so I figured I'd just better check. Alas, what little information I could find was somewhat troubling. My Intrepid features the Infinity audio system which, while it sounds quite nice, I understand can make changing stereos a loathsome endeavor.
So, I cast myself before you, ye experts of all things Intrepid, with my rampant ignorance held high, ready to be sacrificed at the altar of knowledge. PUMMEL me with your wisdom. Or, to use slightly less florid prose, please enlighten me as to any issues I might face while installing this unit, in particular to do with getting it to work with the Infinity system.
(One more thing, I have purchased an after-market mount and wiring adapter which are ready to go.)
