Cam timing

Do I need to use the cam timing tool on both cams if I've only removed one cam sprocket?

Sweet, thanks!

Another question...I'm reusing the cam bolt. Haynes manual says to use Loctite 271 which is for permanent applications and is "only removable once cured by heating up parts to 500F (260C)." Would Permatex blue (medium strength) threadlock be sufficient? I think this is what I used last time.

Typically what you will find is that you don't need to use heat unless if either the thread size or the size of the head is less than 1/4" or larger than an inch or so (depending on what air tools are available). Anything in between can usually be taken out without using heat.

I wondered if that would be the case. Then I should use red and not blue? Does it matter what brand as long as it's red?

ADPROS, I missed your comment before my last reply. Thank you for that. If blue would be fine then I'll likely go with that since it's what I've got. I have to have this thing back together today cuz wife's b'day is tomorrow! Thanks guys!

np! I have frequently used "None" when re-assembling. None of these have ever worked themselves loose, (That I am aware of).
