Backing Plates for Parking Brake

Hi

I had a caliper seize over the weekend and my mechanic guy found that the backing plates for the parking brake are in dire shape and need replacing.

I've been looking around for these and they seem rather difficult to source for my 2002 Concorde LXi 3.5 Liter. I often get stuff from RockAuto.com but nothing there. I did find this site

http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/...5093238AB.html

that has them as

05093238AA
05093238AB

I notice the A and B endings and I wonder if these are left and right? Does anyone happen to know?

Also, it would help if I knew a few manufacturers of these. Seems Dorman doesn't produce them for Concordes Mopar maybe does anyone know anyone else who makes them? I see Mopar has them on Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Mopar-3238AB-Brake-Backing-Plate/dp/B00MJ2KH14
but unfortunately not in Canada where I live. I guess the other possibility is if there are any compatible parts - maybe a Dodge Caravan?

Any thoughts?

Thanks..

Where did you get those part numbers? Everything I have shows them as 4797310 for right side, 4797311 for left side. It looks like same part numbers are used for all 1st and 2nd gen LH cars. Once you pull them up on that dealer site you linked, if you click "View Product", and then click "Show" under "Product Fitment Applications", it even shows that they are used on other chassis, including Ram trucks all the way to 2010. (appears that 4728098, 4797308, and 4728096 are equiv. parts for right side, and 4728097, 4797309, 4728099 are equiv. parts left side.)

Ebay has them as well as that dealer you linked. Also seeing them on Amazon. But prices are north of $100 each.

Always delete the leading zero in any Chrysler part number. Lookups will often not recognize the part with the leading zero. Just to make sure, search with and without the zero.

Hi Peva

thanks very much for the information. I believe I got the ID's from the site I linked to above. Maybe it isn't a part number, just that particular website's stock code..

Lot of money for a crummy bit of pressed metal!

You're welcome.

No - those are clearly Chrysler part numbers. If you pull up the fitments on the numbers you linked, our cars are not listed. The numbers I got are out of the parts pdf's, and also are what come up if you drill down by vehicle on the site you linked.

Yes - a little pricey.

AA, AB, AC, etc. are revision codes. AA would be the original design, AB a replacement and so on. These MIGHT also indicate a change in manufacturer. The highest revision would, in theory, be the best part.

I didn't look at any of the specific part number, so I won't comment on that.
