Oversize Tires?

I was talking to a less-than-knowledgeable member on here about this. He claimed that he is running 235/55-15 on his Mustang in place of the stock 205/65-15. I am wondering if this is feasible, and safe to do. The size that I to run is 215/55-16 in place of 205/60-16 on a different car that isn't a Trep. I plan to bring these into my autos class and mount and balance them there. I have mounted tube motorcycle tires before and mounting oversized can be a serious PITA. So what do you guys think of this? Thanks in advance for replies.

on the first two tires you have listed, that's only about an inch difference at the tread face... so that's not much IMO... and slightly different side wall height... in all reality, the sidewall probably is about the same height. I don't have time to run the numbers now, I'll try to later, but that size difference wouldn't be that bad.

Same with the other set you have listed.
