Compression tester adapter stuck in spark plug hole
I have a solution but I don't want to mess things up any further so I want to make sure it will work fine. I was checking the compression on my car to make sure the engine wasn't blown and I got the adapter stuck in one of the spark plug holes without noticing since the adapter is actually the same thread as the actual tester. So I finished the test and put all the spark plugs back in. Where I really messed up is I screwed one of the spark plugs into the adapter and didn't notice until I tried putting everything back together so now the adapter is stuck on just as well as any of the spark plugs. I tried using a long set of needle nose pliers put cant get it. I was thinking I could put the spark plug back on the adapter with some loctite let it set and just pull the plug.
Now obviously I made a big mistake and my dad even warned me not to put the tester on too tight but do you guys see any problems with trying this? I already put the tester back on but it the adapter is too tight since I accidentally put the plug into it.
That actually sounds like a reasonable solution. I don't see how it could make your problem any worse, and the chance for success is good unless that adapter is threaded in really tight. When you do this, do it on a hot engine, since aluminum expands when hot. Good luck.
The problem with the needle nose is you torqued it down with probably a 12" ratchet handle. Now you are trying to undo that torque with a tool that has the torque of a 2" ratchet handle.
Just an idea but when we undo studs or threaded fasteners with no hex or slots we use the thread.
Probably as rare as hen's teeth but find a threaded rod the same thread as the spark plug, or compression tester fitting. Might be 14mm. Even just a long bolt. Thread a hex nut onto the threaded rod. Thread threaded rod into stuck adaptor. Now hold the rod and turn the hex nut down onto the adaptor tightly. Now try to turn the threaded rod. If you are familiar with double nutting studs in or out. You will see my idea.
