Dashboard lights flickering???

Every now and then my interior lights flicker, go bright then go dim as if i was messing with the dimmer. The dash lights, the radio lights and the climate control display sometimes flicker but then stop.

Any ideas anyone??

Im all ears.

Thanks.

It could be the BCM.

Garage
Its either the headlight dimmer switch that needs to be cleaned...or you have a bad battery or battery connection (if ALL your lights on whole car are flickering)...some have sucessfully taken the headlight switch apart and cleaned it to correct this, but quickest way is a new headlight switch.

yeah, I didn't read the question thoroughly. It very well could be that too. But last case scenario, the BCM does control the lighting. Rule out easy & cheap options first.

If I understand it right, I had this same problem with my '99 LHS. On the dimmer there's a click setting to make the dash lights brighter for daytime use of headlights. The next click engages the dome lights. I found that when I had the dash lights as bright as possible without being in the daytime setting - laying against the first click, but not clicked in - sometimes they would flicker. I just moved the dimmer down a bit and the fickering would stop. Never replaced any switches. Good luck!

X2 try adjusting the switch. it works for us when this happens.

since you mention just the dash lights flickering i'd check the switch like mentioned...if ALL the lights flicker then you have a short or battery connection problem. My "light flickering" thread ended with my making a sharp left turn only to have wrapped my steering column with my subwoofer power wire pulling it from its fused case in the the engine compartment...that wire would then touch ground as a drove "flickering" my lights.

I have the same issue with the flickering lights, it stopped after about 5 mins, but my headlights dont come on at all! Had to drive home with no lights. We had an ice storm last night, maybe the ice did it but all lights come on except my head lights. Any tips on fixing that?

****
Just checked some stuff out, driver side high beam works, but passenger side low and high doesnt work, as well as driver side low beam does not work. Checked fuses, they looked good, check neg battery connections ,looked good as well. Any suggestions??

I will go with the dimmer switch. Same happens on my Trep, and just moving the dimmer a little will solve it for a while.

I know.. I know... O should be replaced. Maybe during summer.

The headlight dimmer switch is the switch we use to turn on our high beams, right? But there are only 3 settings I've noticed on that. Off/on/high beams and that's it so what do we do with that??

Not a headlight dimmer but the dash light dimmer. It's a resistor and it gets dust inside, making the connections poor and producing flicker.
