Rebuild, code problems?

I got a total of 6 codes in my car right now..... 4 oxygen codes, and 3 misfire codes.

All 4 oxygen codes are for bank 1 and bank 2 sensor 1. I've had them before but it only threw 2 codes then. Now it's throwing 4 codes for them.

The car runs good, i haven't ever noticed a missfire yet. But it says cylinder number 4 and cylinder number 2 are missfiring. Along with a random missfire.

Any ideas fellas? The guys at Autozone said that a vacuum leak might cause the O2 sensors to go hay wire, how true is that and what vacuum line would i need to look at?

Thanks
Clayton

Garage
I would agree with a vacuum leak. could be a line, intake/plenum gasket, injector o-rings, etc.

hmmm, never came across an invisible vacuum leak, whats the easiest way to find one soapy water?

I'm starting to think it might be my intake plenum gasket..

The engine wouldn't rev up, it would stall slightly... and soapy water will NOT tell you where a vacuum leak is, only a pressure leak.

Have you replaced your o2 sensors? The computer uses the 02 sensors, amongst other things, to determine misfires... it could be that your o2 sensors are just plain BAD, and if you replace them, you clear up all codes...

Yes, i've replaced them. What could i do to check for an intake gasket leak other than just pulling it all apart?

You can check for a leak with a propane bottle, but for as simple a job would be you may as well just pop apart the upper and swap the gasket...

I have never done the propane check, I would suggest Googling it honestly.

Before you get too deep into it rule out the easy stuff.... check the EGR Valve and lines, and the intake vacuum lines.... if something fits loosely pull that line and plug both ends with your thumbs or fingers, see if the idle improves....usually the biggest problems are the lines connecting to the intake, either breathing air in around the edges, or a crack in the line... and by the way... any air sneaking in behine the various air sensors will cause it to run like crap.... if this makes since---- all the known information being provided to the ECU throught the vacuum and air intake systems are no longer reliable so the ecu is adjusting the engine based on the information its provided at the sensor, not including the variations in airflow, or temp....

Added: check all the fastners on the intake system..... make sure they are tight!
