intrepid finger....

this is what i call intrepid finger. after the wife poped the trunck i thought i would be a nice husband and give her a hand lifting the trunk lid. well as i was reaching to help it slipped out of her hand and smashed mine in the process. i should have left my finger in there untill she poped it again but first instinct is to pull it out which is what i did, leaving behind a sizeable chunk of mt finger tip as you can see. not sure if new struts on the trunk lid would help or not but since i added the spoiler last year my wifes been complaining about the weight, though she loves the look...

I think someone on this site or maybe another was talking about getting heavy duty struts for a Concord or 300m with a spoiler. It might be worth looking into but if they have never been changed I am sure even the stock ones might make a difference.

I did that. Opened the trunk(not enough), was touching the rubber snubber on top of the bumper cover when the lid slammed shut. Luckily the angle of the snubber allowed my thumb to get squeezed out(shot out really). Blood shot out from under my nail and I had a black nail for a month or two

From what i've read the stock trunk struts aren't strong enough or designed to support spoilers. I think you'll have to get some heavy duty struts like someone else mentioned.

I have a aftermarket spoiler. No problem with my lift supports. But my spolier is very lightweight.

Reminds me of the time I closed my finger in the back passenger side door. Put my school books on the back carpet and closed the door. Went to walk away, but couldn't... my finger was closed in the door... Guess I forgot to remove my hand when I closed it.

Won't make that mistake again!

I added a spoiler and applied Damplifier to the inside. The trunk is now a guillotine I tell you!

I once managed to shut my fingers in the trunk lid on my '96 without actually opening the trunk, and then escape unharmed.

It's amazing what you can do when you don't pay attention.
