2.7L fixable ?

Hi guys ! I just saw on Kijiji a 2000 Trep ES with the 2.7. The owner says that it's knocking and she has been told that it's a valve that need to be changed. I assume it's a valve lifter. Is it hard to change or a big job ? The car is only 500 $. Do you think it's worth it ?

I post the ad but it's in French so I translate it here: http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-autos-et...AdIdZ135603103

Intrepid 2000, all equipped, no rust, interior #1, with engine trouble, for sale for parts but can be put back on the road without inspection.4 chrome rims, windshield cracked ,450-258-3022 or 450 -275 2829

Thanx everyone for your advices !!!

Knowing the 2.7 my guess would be alot more than a stuck valve. Chances are it may need a full rebuild. At any rate an ES for $500 is worth checking out.

IMO 3.2/3.5 for sure. That will rid you of any 2.7 worries.

I don't think those are chrome rims, but heck they'd be worth half the price of the car

IMO, if you can afford it, and a rebuild of the 2.7 or swap to a 3.2/3.5 then go for it.
