out with the old trep...in with the new?

well my 98 has gotta go...after doing an engine swap and replacing virtually everything, we are still having a starting issue. Since it happened on both engines and still is happening after replacing so much Im gunna let her go. I plan on hopefully purchasing a new trep 02 with a 3.2 already in it 115k belongs to a relative. But for now I have to make sure I have enough money for school this year and what my spending limit is..I still have the trep, probably posting it for sale next couple weeks...for now Im driving my *gulp* ford escape (crys) we will see how that goes.

An "02 with a 3.2? I thought they had stopped using the 3.2's by then and they were just 2.7's and 3.5's?

Okay, so it is a 2000, not a 2002. Okay, so might have a 3.2 in it then. As far as leather, won't be easy finding a 9 year old car with good leather anyways. Most older cars with leather seats have cracks and damage. I don't like leather seats myself. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter (unless they have a heat option), put conditioner on them to keep them nice and then you slide all over the place, and when they get old, they crack or split.

Perhaps you used the wrong conditioner ( silicone based? ) Any good conditioner won't leave you sliding all over and shouldn't cause cracking. It sounds like someone was using ArmourAll on them.

Well anyway you look at it, anythings better than a 2.7. In 98, and 99 the 3.2 was the biggest engine. When the R/T came along in 2000, the 3.5 HO came into play. In 2002, the 3.2 was replaced by the 3.5, not the HO though. the "regular" 3.5 put out 235 (?) hp. So it continued in the ES until '04. But remember, not all 98-01 ES' came with the 3.2. Some came with the 2.7, and with the 2.7, higher weight in the more luxy ES and the taller gearing made for, I think the slowest 2G. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong. I highly doubt they would put the 3.66 gears in place of 3.89's in the 2.7 ES.

if your gonna give it to gf i would give it to her as a gift so that she wont have to pay tax on it for when she goes to register it or get plates for it. I think on the paperwork at the dmv would say sold to or gave as a gift. I havent done it in a while but my last car my grandpa gave me and he wrote a note saying it was a gift and the dmv weaved the taxes on it. Its a loop hole in the system. Give it a shot. thats if your gonna give it to her.

Sorry Steph, I stand corrected. The ES 2.7 did come with 3.89's but it's still probably slower because of the higher weight.
