LX platform Parking brake design... ie Charger / Challenger
I've always wondered why Chrysler still used the floor foot pedal parking brake design for the new Chargers / Challengers? The Avenger even has a center console hand parking brake, similiar to 99% of all other automobiles produced. Personally, I prefer the center console hand brake and never understood the floor pedal brake. Why would Chrysler have a center console hand parking brake on the Avenger, and not on the Charger / Challenger?
Even the new 2009 Challenger with the 6 speed manual transmission has a foot pedal floor parking brake! Very bad design flaw and I assume this is why Chrysler has this 'hill-assisted' start feature, to combat the parking brake design.
I've driven a Cadillac CTS with a manual and a floor pedal parking brake and it was very awkward, no control with the parking brake on hills. I remember saying to myself when I first got in the car, "oh wow, a manual on a Cadillac," then saying "where the hell is the parking brake" moving my hand over the center console. lol .
