Wheels from China

In the past I have heard comments about how crappy aftermarket wheels from China are. As some of you know I have been over here for a few weeks. One of the big things in the news lately around here is about wheel manufacturers. It isnt bashing them either. One thing I did find out is that there are 7 main wheel manufacturing companies here. Quality?? For the most part I think it is actually a lot higher than you could imagine. I was surprised to find out most of the high end euro cars such as Mercedes, Audi, BMW and those of that caliber are riding around on guess what???? Yup, all the nice OEM aluminum wheels on those cars are made right here in China. The UK is screaming because it can't compete with the companies from here on price or quality. They don't have a lot of car modding going on here in China compared to other places, but a few of the shops I stopped at had some pretty decent looking wheels. I used to be a tool and die maker so I looked them over pretty close and was pretty impressed. I didn't see any that were the right size for my car or I might have bought a set and shipped them home. I could have got a set of 5 for probably around $2-300 US depending on what I wanted, would just have to get them shipped. So if I can see the same wheels at home and figure in shipping they still might be a good deal!

Now can you go to the factory that makes the new cam sensors for our cars and give them a slap across the head for me?

My main thing to search out here for the cars was a good source for LED's. There is nothing around here and they are made here....hahahaha I was told that the factories that make that stuff are a little farther south in the country. The LED's I have seen around here are more or less finished components. When we were out shopping this morning I did run across some bulbs, but they were based like the older 1157's used for tail lights. An interesting note, if you are here and want red and blue flashing lights on your car go for it, they don't care what you have. That is one of the cooler things about this place, everything is lit up with LED's and lasers flash all over the place at night, it is really beautiful at night with all the colored lights everywhere. This bridge is just an example of how things are lit up around here at night. The strands continuously change colors like harp strings being strummed

That's funny about the LED's I've searched on Ebay and every time I see one I want it's from a seller in or near China and made in China.

Steal the ones off the bridge.:evillaugh

I had some chrome Limited wheels made in China. They rusted from the inside out.:icon_mad:

All I heard about was the aluminum wheels, they don't rust.

Yeah it was a bit depressing, I was walking past my Avenger in my garage on a day that my wife just drove it. I noticed a tire looked awful low on air. It only had 12 psi, looked closer and the edge of the wheel was cracked and you can see the chrome bubbled.

I also had trouble with the plating coming off the bead area which probably caused it. I knew then I was going to be needing new wheels but it was still depressing.

If you happen to come across the bright white LEDs that go into our courtesy lights, pick 'em up for me!! I can square up with you at Dan's meet if you're going later this month.

Have fun over there too Art.
