Chip on windshield

Ok.... two weeks ago i was on the highway and i guess the car in front of me kicked up a small stone that put a chip on my windsheild a little smaller than a dime.

Well needless to say I had my insurance company send someone to my house (since i have Full Glass coverage)... to repair this thing.

Well he said he repaired it, but also said that the mark will still appear there.... but the car is guaranteed to pass inspection bla bla bla.

Anyways... this thing is an eyesore. Should I have my insurance company just replace the whole windshield? Would I be asking for trouble if I replace the windsheild cause ill be messing with the factory seal?

I have had multiple windshields replaced on cars (never on my trep) but if you have a pro do it I don't think you will have any issues with the seal.

I had a similar repair done on my old Taurus that annoyed me to no end

about a month after the repair was done my windshield was "accidently" broken in a parking lot

seems like "someone" hit it with a hammer...

the new windshield was perfect, lifetime warranty on seals and all

just letting you know

I agree with chicagotrs....have the ins. comp. replace the whole thing. I had a chip in my window on my old 2000 intrepid and the thing spiderwebbed on me the colder it got outside. I also agree that you should get it done by professions....and NOT 1-800-54GIANT. those guys are a bunch of hackers...

Ok im just gonna take it to the local shop by my parents place to get this taken care of. Ive had work done there before... and my insurance company has no problem replacing the windshield.

I dont even need to create "another accident". LOL

my tip for cracks on windshields....

mine was cracked when a small rock flew up from nowhere and hit my winshield. About a week later i saw a state truck driving down the same road with some debris fling out of the back. What i did was write down the liscense plate number of the truck and the color and all that information, call the place and tell them what happened. They told me they got a number of calls from that truck and were replacing winshields on every car damaged. The state takes too much of my tax money anyway, i had to cheat the system somehow....

Actually... I owned a 97 Civic.... perfect car to mod up and I didnt do jack shit to it. I didnt get into "modding" till I bought the Trep. I also didnt belong or viewed any Civic forums when I had the Civic.

The civic to me was a form of transportation. The Intrepid is my baby.

And the Celica (1984) my parents bought when I was still living with them as a second car for me to drive when I drove their old Ford Tempo to the ground.

Make sure you get that chip fixed A.S.A.P. A couple of years ago I had a chip on my winshield. I didn't pay to much attention to it, and it soon turned into a crack along the lower part of the glass. About a $60. fix-it turned into a $400. replace (i don't have glass insurance...shitty huh!)

Well they already fixed it... but they said it will still leave a mark even though its fixed. I have full glass and my insurance company said they will just replace the windshield since im not happy with it.
