.

Well an old good ule of thumb is push on each corner of your car. If it bounces 3 times or more replace them. I myself replace mine every 60,000 or 80,000. But depends on the what the roads are like i been driving on. Brake struts and or shocks will kill your brake pads and stopping distance aswell.

My 2k intrepid only has 67000 miles on it, and its always garaged in the winter. There does not appear to be anything wrong with the shocks and struts. Should they be replaced anyway?

What others do and I would do. Are two different things. have a set mileage I replaceparts that wear out. I would rather replace it before it goes bad. But that is me I change oil before most people do aswell.

MIne have 82k on them and they still dont bounce more than 1 time after pushing down on the car. The only thing is Chrysler used this crappy foam that deteriorated rapidly for the spring isolators. Once those go, its going to rattle over bumps.

Generally I dont fix anything until its broke, especially if the car is nothing special to me. I did however just put new ones on the 300m at around 175k because it was making some awful noises that got me a little spooked.

Advance Auto Parts is still doing the online coupons and I saved about $100 when I ordered mine.
