Smile My biggest mod...

It sounds like a big mod to everyone who doesn't understand our cars but it really isn't. Finally I am going to be switching my 2001 front end of my Corde to a 2002 front end. I picked up two headlights, bumper, grille, and fogs off of a guy from craigslist for.... $50! He had no Idea how much they were worth. He said that the car is going to the scrap yard within the next couple days so he didn't care. The headlights are fogged some but I plan on trying the never dull tip and if that fails, I will break down and take the time to sand em down. The bumper is silver so I have to get it painted or buy a bra but for $50... Come on! I had to. Here are a couple pictures...

Pictures were taken real fast with my phone. I will get better pictures of the process later on. I cleaned the headlights some. They were worse. I just have to figure out how I want to wire the parking/turn signals up. My Corde had only the signals on the bumper and no parking lights. This is set up for parking lights in the headlights and turn signals on the bumper. Not sure if I want to just have it turn signals in the headlights and the bumper lights be dead or do turn signals in the headlights and the bumper. I have the 300m Special mirrors on my car so that would be three signals on each side in the front and might be over kill.

I have to still look for how to wire the fog lights up to work with my auto headlight switch. I got the fuse or whatever from the 2002 Corde so I have power for fogs and the fog signal lights up on the switch when pulled out. Can anyone answer where to run the fogs to easily to work with the switch?

I also need to know what size star socket I need to get the bulbs out of the headlights so I can put my bulbs in. They are OEM headlights so maybe someone has the answer to that one.

I'll keep you all updated but it might be a long process because you need money to get a bumper painted haha.

Ahhh, so you're going from catfish to classy. I approve.

On the turnsignals, somehow the Limited seems to alternate between the bumper light and the headlight turn signal. When one goes off, the other goes on. I am not sure how that is accomplished. If nothing else, it would be easy to wire the bumper turn signals in series with the headlight signals so they both come on at the same time

It always reminded me of a whale shark.

Looks like it'll be a great mod.

Thanks everyone. I figured out almost everything. I got the wire harness that is attached to the front bumper when I pulled it off. I plugged that in and the fogs came right on!

I have ALWAYS wanted fog lights but never wanted them to look like pepboys add ons. It felt so good seeing them come on. I think I am just going to wire the bumper signals into the headlight parking lights and see how that goes. Maybe I will be lucky and they will do the alternating thing, but I doubt that. The only thing I don't know about is if a bra will cover the entire bumper. I am pretty sure it will but I have never seen one on this style bumper. I definitely don't have the money to paint the bumper correctly like I want to so for now I will try to get a bra under $50 from eBay or something. I really don't want to ride around with a silver bumper on my car but I am so excited that I want to put it all together this weekend and worry about getting a bra later.

Oh, off topic, but a guy at a grocery store with a first gen Corde, same color as mine, complimented my car and was asking me about it today. I told him about this site and he was shocked and could not stop thanking me so maybe we will see him on here now haha.

Anyway, I am loving what my car is turning into. You WILL NOT see another 2001 Corde with 300m Special mirrors and a LHS/newer Corde bumper. I feel unique

That will be a sweet mod...

you can always buy a cheap rattle can of the right color (close color) red to paint the bumper - it won't be 'right', but if the bra doesn't cover it quite right, you might get some coverage that way...

I actually thought about that this morning. Thanks for the advice. I have a feeling I might have to just spray some in the fog light indents and maybe on the edges by the wheel wells. I wish I could get a bra cheaper than I paid for the whole set I bought. That is sad that I got all that for $50 and a bra is over $60 on eBay.

How much do you think it would be to go ahead and have it shot the right color now? would it really be worth spending 60 now just to have to spend how ever much more later?

I went to my family mechanic who does our paint work and he said that my paint is that tricoat stuff where it needs like a pearl base or whatever. He cuts us breaks on the stuff he does for us and he was saying that it will be about $250 as a rough estimate. That seems like a good price but I do not have that money right now. I commute to school 30 miles one way three days a week and my bumper is torn up because of it so I was thinking if I got a bra I could keep it on there for the rest of my time commuting to school, about 2 years. If I got it painted it would just get messed up from the highway I take and then I would just be pissed off haha. Maybe once I get out of school I can paint it, or if I do end up getting some spare cash I could go ahead and paint it. I can always try to resell the bra for like half of what I paid.
