Even better with a few tweaks, I have always thought those chrome factory wheels would look great in a 20 inch. A few inches lower, a little bit more detail on San Francisco, sky is little bit more purple and water is darker.

Well you people quit showing photos of Black cars. Tom gets all fired up. Then has to clean his key board and computer screen.

It's interesting to note that they said the automatic was "one of the better 'manumatics' currently in play".

That doesn't sound like harsh criticism to me. Maybe the tranny isn't as bad as some people on here think it is.

And it isn't just this review that I see such comments in either.

Have you ever driven an autostick.... It shifts very harshly and the motor (at least the 3.2) has nada for torque so everytime it shifts the car seems to die for a few moments...

I don't know what car these guys were driving because these cars do not have tons of low end torque... My car seems to have plenty of kick once it gets wound up 3-5Krpm range. I also thought the SXT lost the RT's beefed up suspension.... and finally I am six feet tall and I have plenty of head clearance even with a moon roof. They are right about the road noise it's absolutely deafening at highway speeds.

I am at the totally opposite end with this. I find the Autostick to shift VERY smooth, on both my present R/T as well as my last vehicle - a '98 Stratus ES.

The Autostick of Chrysler/Dodge vehicles is NOT a "no-brainer" in terms of excellent performance. The user MUST spend appreciable time with it in order to achieve top performance. I really believe it's just as tricky as a standard manual transmission. It took me a solid 6 months with my Stratus to master the Autostick. What's strange is I thought I'd fall right into the R/T's Autostick after driving the Stratus for 4 years. No such luck! The Autostick operation of the R/T, along with all the other factors (such as MUCH heavier vehicle) took me a solid 4 months to master once again!

The one MAJOR factor that needs to be understood is that when shifting with an Autostick while accelerating DO NOT LET OFF ON THE GAS BETWEEN SHIFTS! Unlike a standard manual transmission with a clutch, you DO NOT want to let off on the gas between shifts. If you do, you will get the "jerkiest" shift in the world! Keep accelerating and shift at the proper RPM and it's a beautiful thing!

Stick that damn shifter into Autostick for 4 solid months and force yourself to use it. Take the time to learn how to properly use it and you WILL be a believer!

Well I don't have the road noise problem, my parents said the 2000 that they test drove was deafening, but my 2002 SURE isn't deafening at all, my parents think my car is VERY quiet....my new intake makes it louder though

I'm 6'1" with a sunroof and have NO problems whatsoever with head room, just have to use the power seat and lower it to the floor and I have at least 2". I can remember another article complaining about head room in the Intrepids while saying nothing negative about the Hondas, the Hondas have less head room than the Intrepids damnit!

It's not the same. My last car had a manual tranny and this is not the same. They never should have put an "RT" emblem on this car without packaging it with a 5 or 6 speed manual... with a manual tranny and a real low first gear your car could be really fast.

My brother used to have a Dodge Stealth and my head physically touched the roof if I leaned forward at all... sitting straight in the seat I had about 1/4 of inch of clearance.... that's at 6ft even don't know how anyone taller could have drove it.

Hmm, this review kinda makes me wanna rethink my decision to get an LHS...I don't think the '99-01 LHS has autostick avail, but I could be wrong. Any input on this?

I'm 6' 5'' and I have clearance between me and the sunroof. It pisses me off a tad that they say the R/T bit the dust as though something was wrong with it. It was too expesive for them to put out , thats what I think. Yea , and whatever Tom said.

Well I do wish that they kept the 17" R/T chrome rims (not like the 16" ones I got) with the Mich tires instead of the GA's. Also the cheapouts of the door panels EVIC Autostick was a HUGE turn off as well as the 9 speakers went to 7 upgrade...all in all a lot went missing but I am still PROUD to show this cars presence on the road over my 2.7 2000 trep base I had. This SXT inferno (still not use to the color yet) gets a lot of looks. one other thing is 2 buddies bougt the exact same in Black yet they can smoke the tires and kick the crap out of me? Yet I always said something just does not feel right with the performance of this particular one eats gas kind of get a knock at start up (getting to much gas) and shakes pretty good while at idle like it was a hemi or something...lol. Yet I am told 10,000 KM break in (Ya Right) by then I will have spent that much on gas alone almost. Just keeping tabs while I am at it.

BTW if I bring SXT into dealer can they not program BCM to the 300M HP specs to give the extra which I am sure is the only HP diff is in the programming? eliminate the limiter also to turn on the alarm as I understand that is also just a progamming function? I know a guy at the dealer so I figure to ask this favour but don't want to look to stupid asking something impossible since I do work fo DC and do a ton of repairs in my owns 2 1/2 garage all set up for it but not keen on the programming aspects of the newer cars at all...

Many Thanks,
STBEAR007

Not sure if they can reflash it without a reflash station or the actual flash loaded in the DRBIII. They can turn on your alarm, I added a trunk harness from an older Trep that had the security/trunk lock knockout sensor and added the two door lock position sensors as well, just have to check that the wires are in the body harness for the doors. You can enable the alarm with the older trunk harness without the door sensors but I'm not sure if it will arm without the trunk sensor. To eliminate the limiter, the dealer may not have access to that.
