fuel Mileage

I was getting 27-28 mpg highway three years ago but now even being very conscious
of driving with a gentle foot , I can barely muster 23.5 .

The car is in an excellent state of tune with new O2 sensors , plugs , Air filter , ect, ect.
And the car see's fuel system cleaner on a regular basis.

Do you think this Ethanol fuel "E-10" is making that much difference ?

The car only has 114,000 miles on it.

And yes I've tried different tires just to check that aspect.

Don't know how far into Northeast Kingdom you are but with the weather change it does usually knock 1-2 MPG down and E10 does not burn better or give better mileage than real gasoline. Probably also the dealers have probably switched to "winter blend" now also. I would expect 25 for the winter but you seem to be in the ball park.

yeah, unless you're doing long trips on the highway, 23 sounds about right for colder weather. these cars take a while to warm up. compared to my folk's vibe, it gets to full operating temp in about 2 or 3 minutes.

if you're real concerned you could have the alignment checked.

is that average mpg? or instant with the computer?

That's average mpg with me driving 90 miles a day back and forth to work.
Yes it's 70-75 mph on the interstate but thats where the better mileage was
checked also.
I check my mpg almost every tank and it's very consistent at 23. something.
I've noticed that it takes longer than usual for the engine temp to come up also.
I've even blocked off the upper holes in the radiator support but it really didn't make
any difference.
Maybe time for a thermostat change ?

The coolant has been changed a couple times.

thats a bit low, if there's no codes and without seeing/hearing it run, there's no way of diagnosing it, obviously its running rich for some reason.
