window tint

whats the best way to remove it from my rear window? who ever had the car before me did a real bad job of installing it. The car has rear window defrosters that might be the reason it looks so bad.

X2 on the steamer.. and go SLOW... might want to be safe and unplug the harness going to the defroster too... you can find tint removal spray stuff at stores..but IDK how it works.. I heard of tint shops using what they call a scrubbie( + hot water or tint removal spray) which is a soft scotch bright pad..to clean off some of the remaining adhesive..
It might take some time to get it all off..perfectly..I would go to a tint shop and ask them how much they would charge to re-tint just the rear..they do it often and have techniques down ....The cost might be worth it

I costs more to remove it than it does to install it.

heat gun would work if you want to melt it .. or make it brittle and be about 300x's more PITA than before....... You can peel it off without steam (I just removed some tint from my car without steam or water but that was tint on top of tint)..start in a top corner, go super slow have a spray bottle handy with hot water and spray between tint and glass cos you have to get the adhesive wet to "deactivate it" or get it back into a state of not sticky anymore..to be technical..you pretty much have to let the water soak in inch by inch.. you could even put a small weight on the corner you pulled and let it fall on it's own..spraying it every minute or so.... still..steam is the most effective way..
