No More Twist, Plenty to Shout About

All I can say is Holy Sh**!

I did not install the links provided as I need different bushings for them. But the Stock links should hold for now. I did have to drop the tank but was not that hard at all. (Then again I have the tools to make it easy I guess)

There is a freaking huge difference in the bars when compared side by side, I was being questioned on why I was changing it out by the guys at work until they saw what came out and what was going in.

I did take a few pictures but being I was in a rush kinda and my lens was dirty or something I dunno they are not the greatest.

I have to do an alignment now for sure, I have to wait til later this evening when My work is not busy to use the alignment rack, (going to take time to align this PITA) I plan on getting more photos of the suspension and how it looks far as clearances with suspension loaded.

But, First review. The car now feels extremely flat in heavy cornering. I keep waiting to feel the ass end shift and roll but it never comes. I have no clue where the limit is anymore and I just really do not have the balls to take it there just yet. I have yet to feel an bad effect with normal driving, and no weird noises saying it is rubbing.

I Point the car and it goes where I want it to. I honestly believed that before the Sway bar I was at least if not bit more on par with the 300M Special PHP. I now believe I am beyond that. I do not recall the last 300M Special I drive on a test drive felt so sure footed and planted as the Eagle does now. But of course, I have a huge investment in the suspension upgrades and work on the Eagle and is far from Stock. I am wanting to get some proper 18 inch rims and tires to further improve the grip available as now the 16 inch rim and tire package is the last hindrance point. (besides thicker front sway bar)

And Pictures

Far as Other people, There is a chance I can arrange some to be made. But expect pricing to be above 200 but perhaps below 300. And would require at least 10-15 people to commit. This is for the First Gen Bar. I can ask about the Second Gen Bar.

Far as your LHS tbaaqeel, You can put the special rear sway bar on.

Awesome Devan, that bar is MUCH thicker than the stock one. On the other site, I did a Special front sway bar How-To and the formula is posted for the increase in torsional stiffness. I bet that made a world of difference, from your description, it did. Enjoy your ride.

I found a '97 Eagle Vision TSI at the yard today, looked on the under side cross member and saw the hole on the passenger side, PHP, thought about you 1st Gen guys. I will say, those cars do look lighter.

Give us more feed back, My question is this, was this a special bar that came with that speical motor you and Chewy bought? Nevermind, you got it from ACR, way before me time, what's the history with it?

I am getting some more history on the bar.

But I went saw Tron, and got out late so no alignment this week. But took buddy for test drive, let's just say on the Half clover leaf and he had to hold onto the seat belt to keep upright while I was up against my door. The 300M Seats just do not hold people In good enough anymore.

I am going to say I had very little issue getting the Tank out or getting the lines disconnected. Chrsyler did something right. Total Work time was around an hour. I suppose on the ground would require much more. It did help I planned my Gas usage so that I only had maybe 1/4 tank to 1/8 left so weight was no issue.

Yup. I took the old rubber bushings out of them (the Bottom Part) And shaped two Poly bushings to fit in. Than because I have always had the issue of them popping out under heavy cornering, I tapped the hole at the end of the bolt and have a bolt and washer to keep the bolt from walking out of the bushing.

The Aftermarket links I was given are extremely beefy and much sturdier than ones I made. Once I get around to finding correct size top bushings I will Install them.

On another note, the car is really a different beast now when handling. I am having to relearn it as it responds quicker and can go much further.

The difficult part is Power. I 100% believe under every condition pretty much the Special can obtain a higher speed than I can in less distance, but I feel far as handling and how the car feels mine may just be better.

Of course, I have done an extreme amount of modifications to my suspension Vs the Stock setup most specials have. I am sure however If a special had the same stuff I have, it would outperform my current setup.

As of right now, the only thing I need to do to further improve the handling, is possible try and fit the specials front sway bar up front, (I have a 2g sway bar, just yet to test fit and see) and get some proper lower profile tires as I have video showing these 16 inch tires bulging like a pregnant woman under a corner.

So, just to be clear, I am not claiming to be the fastest, just more capable of handling twistiest better. Of course, I am hoping the future Planned Shelby Can Am build will Solve this dilemma to.
