Center caps.....warranty?

My mechanic broke one of my center caps when he was taking it off to balance the wheel. Three of the plastic tabs broke off (one had previously broken off).

He ended up charging ME for the replacement, would this be a warranty item, should I have to pay for it? It was $30CDN ($20US). The new one is a different design using metal tabs (a known problem?)

I wouldn't pay if he broke it, it was holding fine before he touched it. He obviously didn't remove it properly. I wouldn't be surprised If more of these guys aren't breakin stuff to make more money on the repair. Some places pay there mechanics 15% for parts they sell you.

Do you have "SAP" written on your forehead? Get your money back.

The MECHANIC/SHOP should pay for it. Warranty will not pay for it because he BROKE IT. It did not break itself.
GOOD LUCK
