A good deed saved my life.

I was at U wrench it junkyard. On the way out two guys came up and asked for a jumpstart. When I pulled my car around and opened the trunk. (I had an extra battery in my trunk). Hooked up to their van. I notice that my center cap was missing. I bent over for a closer look and there was only two lugs holding my wheel on and they were loose! I tightend those up and happened to have some lugs in my tool bag for my daytona. I never would have notice had I not jumpstarted that guys van.:mg:

Wow man, that's insane.

I'm glad you had those extra lug nuts.

It didn't save my life, but like 4 days ago, literally just off the highway a MAJOR walk, we're talking at least a half hour walk to any gas station etc, theese this car was on the side of the road with the hood open on the car. He recently purchased the ride and it overheated, so he drove it with the temp guage all the way up for ten minutes.

He said he needed a jump start because the engine wasnt fully turning over. I suggested it was too cooked to turn over and normally overheating would not affect his starter or battery.

So he put some more coolant down in his rad... waited, heard a gurgle and it rocketed out the top because of the extreme heat.

It also quickly leaked out the bottom of the rad. Well there's his prob ..

So I drove him to the nearest and biggest gas station that was open 24/7 since this was like 2am.

Where did the lug nuts go too? Fall off? Did you not tighten them good last time you had the wheel off?

You would think it would shake like crazy with only 2/5 lug nuts on.

Maybe that's why one of his center caps fell off. The pressure from the lug flying off? Otherwise someone was trying to steal his rim and got scared off. I mean come on, 3 of 2? Not just 1?

Glad your car didn't suffer for it man, seriously!

It had been making a noise on the RF wheel. I looked real close and there was no damage to the studs or wheel. The parking lot at the junkyard has security personnel so I don't think someone was trying to steal it. I had put the wheels on with an impact wrench a few months ago. I checked the other side and they were loose but not falling off. I went to the dealer to get a new center cap and they don't have my wheel listed just something that says "Spring Special" I have only seen one other Intrepid with the same options as mine, maybe my car is kinda rare. Hmmmm

I was told "spring special" is an options group. The same as a light package or something. No big deal really.

Just an update: my center cap came in P/N 4755128. They also threw in a valve cap. Cost: 20 Bucks. Now my car is complete again.
