Front end shaking...

I've double posted this also in the 2nd generation general section, thought I might get more viewing here.....

Looking to solve the issue of shaking/loose-ness in front end. I have 97,000k on the car, and I only feel the shaking primarily in the steering wheel at highway speeds and when braking, as the steering wheel shakes.

What could I look into to see what may be the cause of this? Some kind of bushing or boot? Rotors? Loose ball/bearing joint?

Thanks for any ideas!

I was planning on replacing the rotors this weekend if I can find the time, and figured while I was down there, maybe I could look for something obvious that's creating this issue.

Also check tires, may need to be rebalanced, by the way how was your trip to AZ?

Candyman: Last year in the 2nd gen general discussion area I posted the exact same problem that you have. I had the front end aligned, and the problem has never come back. Check into it...
P.S.
If I find the thread that I'm speaking of... I'll post it in this post.

Thanks for the info guys. I am changing the rotors today. I changed the pads last fall, just couldn't afford to do the rotors at the time. Maybe that will be a noticable change as well. I will too look into have the alignment and balance in the tires checked out. That sounds like a logical reason. Sometime this week I'll have to take it in to the shop.

dodgeguy:

I had a great time in AZ. Drove into Sedona, Flagstaff, down through Tucson and visited Nogales, Mexico. Took in a Diamondbacks game at the BOB. Visited three TV stations in Phoenix (ABC 15, Fox 10, and CBS 5). Left resumes and tapes for future references. Had an overall good time. Averaged about 105 degrees, pretty hot, but not sticky or humid, very different out there from the east.

So much to see and do, just not enough time in a week. I will definatly be back out to visit again, hopefully make a permant move out there within the next 5 years, job willing of course!

I'll have to try to post some of my nicer pics when I get a chance...
