quick question how hard or easy is it to swap out and obd1 pcm/ecu with an obd2 and what is required for such a swap?..my 95 is an obd or obd1 and my parts car 96 is obd2 i think and i wanna switch to obd2 the 96 is non autostick floor shift and the 95 is column shift thats about it other than that there both 3.3L
Depend on how much you love your car is to you wanting to do it. A lot of work will be involved in converting the car over to OBD2.
You will need the entire engine and body harness, the computers from the OBD2 donor car. There is a sensor on the 95 engine (OBD1) that is in a whole different location in the 96 engine, so you would have to modify the harness to make it work.
Is it worth going through all that hassle to rip out all the wiring harnesses on both cars and shoving the OBD2 harness into your car, well that all depends on how much you know on how to do it, and how much love you have for your car..
you know come to think about it....and i thought real HARD about it....for as much love as i got for this car and restoring it to its full potential i think i might just do it....now i just have to find the time to swap out the harness and pcm/ecu...i dunno if its me or the whole mod bug thing but man i just can't stop working on this car even if there really isn't much i can do to it lol
if anyone has an extra engine wiring harness for a 96/OBD2 3.3L laying around just sitting and they wanna get rid of it i'll be willing to ship it
