Code 74

Just keeps getting worse. Brought the 96 Trep inot AAMCO and they told me that this is the first time that they saw this code. Said not to run the car. Tech said it shifted fine but that the transmission is running extremely hot (240 degrees) and that the transmission could go at anytime or no time soon. Recommended re-built tranny (no surprise there) for $1600. Last payment just happened and I will trade it in before I spend that on a re-built tranny.

Anybody ever hear of code 74 and what options would I have?

There is no Code 74.

I have a feeling they are blowing smoke, take it another shop and get a second opinion.

I never heard of it either. He states it is off the computer and said it was "calibrated oil temp in use"...

What does this have to do with the tranny? It was shifting fine and no unusual noises either (knock on wood).

Cottman, HERE I COME...
