Swapping everything from an 04 to 99

Hi the engine went in my 99 3.2l intrepid. I've picked up an 04 donor car with a 3.5l. I've read the posts on doing this swap but I'm wondering would there be any benefit to swapping the motor, engine harness, power steering pump, pcm maybe even the tranny from the 04 to the 09 instead of swapping all the parts from the 99 engine to the 04. I'm sure it would be extra work but would you get any extra hp or anything at all out of it?

Thanks

The 3.2 and the 3.5 are nearly the same.

The big difference is the year of the car.

Dodge made lots of small changes in 2002.

The engine wiring harness on your 04 will not connect to the PCM in the 99
and you cannot take the PCM from the 04 and make it work with the wiring in the 99, so
if you want to swap the 3.5 into the 99 you have to throw away the 3.5 engine harness and
use the 3.2 harness.

That is just one of the modifications you need to do in order to use the 3.5 in the 99.

Another example: The 3.2 has an EGR valve and electrical connection. The 3.5 does not.
So, when you swap over the wiring harness, you will have a connector for the EGR valve but
no EGR.

Another example: The 3.5 has different IAC and TPS sensors. You would need to swap
the throttle body and sensors from the 3.2 to the 3.5.

Flex plate and left cam gear need to be swapped.

You can order a manual from Daytrepper. It covers the whole process.

Good luck with your project.

Heres a list of everything needed for your swap...... you can use all the required parts off of your 3.2L to get it done.

Will just follow the guide. I had just never read, possibly overlooked, why you couldn't put a new pcm into an older car if you used to new engine harness, but makes sense that the rest of the wiring in the car wouldn't work with the new pcm.

Thanks and the fun begins.

Start at post 31, and read on. This is what you would have to do for 02-04 controller to work in 98-01....
