Need input: Whether or not to buy a Sebring?

I went on a test drive with my brother in a 98 Sebring Convertible.
He is considering trading in his car for it.

It is a 98, about 48,000 mi, and in good shape. I think the dealer went down to $9,500 - which is below blue book value.

Does anyone here have a Sebring? Any known issues with a 98?
Should we look for something newer?

I'm not real familiar with Sebrings - so I wanted to see what others thought about this.

Good deal? Any reason not to buy?

If I could find the color I wanted in the trim level I wanted and if the dealers would have come down on the price, I would be driving a Patroit Blue Convertable Seabring JXi today instead of my Trep.

I've always liked how they looked. A convertable though in Wisconsin during the winter time would be a pain in the ____ .

Hey, post 100... Coool!!!

From what I've read on the Sebring forums (almost bought one, might still buy one) the Sebring convertible is a fairly reliable, tight car. It leans a lot in corners but grips acceptably. It doesnt accelerate strongly but is fairly adequate for a front-drive boulevard cruiser.

And of course, its visually stunning! Im considering a winter car, and the Sebring might be perfect for winter (FWD) while still being useful for perfect sunny days.

I thought it leaned some - I think it's ride is closer to a cruiser/luxury car - not a sports car. It's not bad.

Not as fast as I'd like - but then again.... I'm not sure if I'd want a FAST convertible.

I was hoping he'd buy it so I could borrow it for road trips - with the top down.

I need to figure out my squeeky right wheel.....

That's ironic that you need new pads - given where you work.
