Anyone have this prob or know how to stop it. i dont see any holes but cant really argue with the water that is sitting there. I am dring it out now.

Hmm. Are you saying that water has been somehow getting in the trunk? I would think that water wouldn't escape that area very easily. So if there has ever been anything wet in the trunk maybe it never dried up or something...

I had a lot of water in my trunk last rain season, I think it gets in from the drain plugs in the spare tire compartment, cause the water was in there, but the trunk carpet was dry as a bone. Thats my guess.

Here's a good thread on water leaks. I believe there's one specifically for the trunk but can't find it right now.

I have noticed that when you open the trunkwhen the car is wet a good deal of water pours off of the trunk lid, but it does not seem to get into the trunk itself.

I am betting it's different for 1st gens vs 2nd gens though. Since the 2nd gens definately improve on a lot of things.
By the way I checked your car pics Tilit, looks nice.

WATER IN THE TRUNK

I have experienced the same problem with my 96 intrepid es. I discussed the water in the trunk problem with a mechanic and he told me it is a common problem with many cars.

The mechanic told me these types of problems sometimes are the result of fine snow filtering in through the seams between the trunk hood and car body.

Both times when I discovere significant amounts of water in the trunk during the springtime was after a winter with alot of snow.

Not sure this is true cause, but just sharing information.

Good luck.

I think the water may be coming from the air flaps in the sides of the trunk bay. If you pull the carpet away on the sides you should see a air vent that has a rubber flap. I used the under body wash the other day at the automatic car wash and after that I noticed a puddle of water sitting on top of the spare tire cap. I still think that is how that happened. I have heard that if those don't seal properly that water will seep into the trunk.

If you have an ongoing problem with it, have someone sit in your trunk with a flashlight and go through a carwash and see if any comes in. Just don't forget about them! lol

Aw, come on. You mean I can't drive around with someone in my trunk? That would be kinda fun.. lol

I am pretty sure that is where my water come from, because I have never had that problem before and have not had it since.
