alignment whacked?

my 16 yr old hit a curb with my 96 trep. I wondered why there was a big ole scuff mark on the front tire. he denied everything of course. the car feels real uneven while i accelerate when the wheel is turned. like turning at a corner. but it will go straight down the road with no corrections needed. i can take my hands off the wheel and it will track straight but the steering wheels is not straight up now, its at about 11 o'clock. if i accelerate hard i get a lot of torque steer. i did not feel that before. hmm, whats up?

I don't know if you are also noticing anything else. But you have checked to make sure that the wheels are not dented or anything. Just as an extra precaution. Other than that, I know that hitting a curb can do a lot of things to a car, mess the alignment damage the wheels, cause flat tires. if a tire is flat or deflated (you would notice if it was flat I am sure) that would cause the car to pull and do several other things

I wonder if the tire is damaged somehow? maybe separated belt or internal damage. it looks ok. i could try rotating the tires and see if the problem goes away. it tracks fine but accelerates squirelly like. hmm, almost like one tire is on ice. its an open differential of course. it has to be alignment or tire. ahh, kids.

alignment on these cars can't really get whacked out on this style of steering unless you bent something else (like a control arm or something).

Might want to get it checked out asap

I slid sideways on snow into a curb in my former ES. No marks on the rim but it bent the strut and distorted the knuckle, had to replace both to get it back on the screen of the alignment machine.

LOL... You know, I am sure most people have done it at some point. My parents own a 96 Ford Escort (Ugh!), now that is a peice of junk.. Which is actually good, because that's where all of the kids have learned to drive (5 now). It's the perfect car for that kind of thing. It's a car no one cares about, so it has taken it's abuse.
Oldest brother wrecked it, older sister NAILED a big pothole. It's also seen a few other things...
