Q for YB Normyl on turn signals

YB, a while back you responded to a post (which I have searched and searched for and can't find) about someone who was having problems with their turn signals and emergency flashers not working. You referenced a problem with faulty contacts causing a short circuit. I have this problem with my 95 Intrepid. My question is where would you suggest checking/soldering the contacts - the connection block that the blinker unit plugs into or the connections at the steering wheel that lead down to the blinker unit. This is driving me crazy. Sometimes the blinker unit will just buzz and the lights won't blink. Sometimes it works just fine. Thanks YB for any suggestions (or anyone else who wants to jump in).

Have you checked the flasher itself down by the brake pedal?
The hot spot I was refering to is the connector going into the multiswitch (turn sig, high beam, emerge flasher etc) if you pop off the steering column cover on top, you can see the big connector into the switch box, disconnect it and look for discoloration of the metal pin outs on both the male and female sides.

Thanks YB! Yes, I did switch out the flasher on my other car. Still had the same problem. I will pop the steering cover and look those connectors over. Thanks again.

There were alot of problems with the multi switches on the first gens. You can also use a 2nd gen switch on a first gen, they are actually the same unit used on some GM's.
