Tire size suggestions?

I want some larger and wider tires on my R/T. Any suggestions on just how much larger I can go without getting that "balloon" look?

Because of the rim width and the suspension clearance, 245 is about as wide as you can go. I'm on my second set of 245s and I really don't think they have any "mushroom" look at all. If you go by tire manufacturer's recommendations, 225 is as wide as recommended for a 7" rim though...

Did you have to twist your tire installer's arn to do this or do they take your word for it?

Hey DB...Do you have pics of your car somewhere? I'm looking at putting 245/45/17's on my car, and want to see what they look like as far as the wheel-well gap is concerned versus the stock size. My Trep is not lowered, and I don't want a huge space in there!

The 300M wheels should be 7" wide also, so 245s should fit. The stiffer the sidewall the harder they are for the shop to install, but the less "mushroomy" they will look.

I have pics of my car with the old Toyos on it here:

The tire gap isn't really that much different. The tires are less than an inch different in diameter. I didn't like the tire gap with the OEM tires and don't the gap I have now. But with the way Austin is with their speed curbs and "humpy" driveways, I'm a little afraid to lower it... :(

I just had a 245/45-17 mounted on one of my 300M wheels...Looks GREAT! I was a bit worried that the rim may be too narrow...NOT! I'll have them all mounted and installed tonight!

I just had Falken ZE-502's mounted on my 300M wheels last night. I went with the 245/4ZR-17's. They look great, and the handling is MUCH improved over my stock 15's. I'll post a link to pics later tonight when I get home.

you could buy cheap tires at Pep boys and they would still be better handling than the OEM GoodYear tires

True. But I was referring to the handling being affected by the change in sidewall profile over my stock-sized BFG's...

A 235 should fit as long as the wheels are at least 7" wide. Most tire manufacturers recommend a 7.5" wheel for them though. But as you can see from the above, a 245 fits on a 7" wheel without problem. Of course with a 60 aspect ratio you may have some "mushrooming" of the sidewalls. That's a really high aspect ratio IMO...

What would the next taller tire be with the same width as a 245-45-18? I like this tires size for my 18x8.5 rims Im about to order but I want to get the absolute biggest tire in the fender as possible to fill up that huge space in there over the stock tires. Thanks for your help. Im a newbe and I need help. THX
