josh, is it a factory system or did you upgrade it??
did you remove the stereo and check for loose connections on the rear of the radio??

like dabird said, most likely its a loos conection some were, and when you start it it doesent touch right unless you make a sharp move with the car

another idea is that you may of mesed up the wireing somewere, so when its in off it can run but when you start it the power is coming from somewere else,, in simple terms, misswired

i think i found the problem--should have thought of this a long time agao but i am not to familiar with these cars wiring. it did all the same stuff with the stock stereo. the amp fuse was loose. i didn't know until today that their was a seperate fuse for the amp. it seems to have fixed the problem though. hope it works. thanks for the help guys

i had a problem with this not long ago:
i turned my car on one day shortly after i put in new aftermarket driving lights and the stereo system would not power up . i got all freaked out and thought somehow i fried my stereo system when i put in the driving lights (though i didnt touch the stereo system).
it ended up being that some how the power wire for the head unit came unplugged. so i connected the two ends of the wire back together and it worked once again
