Advice to DC: how you can improve the Intrepid

I'm the owner of both a 1st & 2nd gen Intrepid. Seems DC listened to some complaints about the 1st gen when they built the 2nd, but they didn't hear them all. Listen up, DC::
a) Wind noise is almost nil now, but you still need to improve road noise; one way to do that would be to stop using Goodyear tires. b) Why not go back to the windshield washers in the wiper blades? They sure seemed better to me. c) And on the subject of wiper blades, why did you remove the airfoils that were used up thru '95? It's kind of disconcerting to have the blades skipping instead of wiping when you're doing 60 in the rain. d) As I learned when the resonator on my '01 got holes in it, the stainless steel exhaust of the 1st gen cars went the way of the Dodo. I'll bet you don't let that little improvement become common knowledge! e) Come on, make ABS standard instead of taking it off the few models that had it. f) Would some soft surfaces on the center console, door armrests, and window sills cost that much? g) Get into the 21st century, DC. A radio with a cassette player? What do you mean pay extra for a CD player?

What ideas do you have for DC??

Doesn't matter now that Chrysler has stopped making them. Just hope that Chrysler makes the new rear drive cars with the improvments you suggest. Just my $0.02. :dozeoff:

Yeah, I sure hate to see them go rear drive, since I live in Missouri, where we get enough snow to appreciate the traction of FWD. I think those few things I listed could apply just as well to RWD too, though.

I disagree, Our 98 Malibu LS has the Washers in the Blade, and they do not work as well as the do on my Previous 99ES, the Malibu has trouble dispersing the washer fluid evenly.

Well, I have to confess I was referring to the blades on my 1st gen Trep--haven't had the 2nd gen long enough to know if it's a problem on it. Soft arm rest: I had an '86 LeBaron GTS, and the console lid armrest had a little padding under the vinyl, as did the door armrest, and it was MUCH more comfortable. I'll disagree with you about tires. On my '96 a change from Goodyear to Goodrich made a tremendous difference in road noise. Take a look at the buyer surveys on TireRack.com and you'll see that buyers rate some brands much better than others for noise.
My resonator went early, I'm sure, because I bought the car used from a person who did a lot of short trip driving. That aside, I'm sure you must agree this is a way of cutting costs, and sooner or later the customer will have to pay for a new exhaust system they wouldn't have had to on the 1st gen cars.
P.S. I've heard the term "He's a gay blade", but you put a new meaning to that!! Guess I'm showing my age. Nice lookin' car ya got there, sonny.

the washer jets on the wipers arm are CRAP , I have them on my 94 . they freeze to easy because of the small hose on the arm , with the jet on the hood the engine heat keeps the jets spraying great at any temp.

I agree with your comment about low tread. Tires definitely get louder when the tread gets low. But even given that, there is a great difference between makes, and Goodyears always seem noisier than many others.
Anyway, to get back to the original point of the posting, what other things should DC do to improve the breed? Maybe by chance a product designer reads these websites and would actually consider our comments.

DC: I applaud you for getting rid of the luggage cruncher trunk hinges of the 1st gen cars (even knowing the gas struts have a finite lifetime and will eventually cost me a few $). Why don't you go to the parallel torsion bars used on the '63 Valiant to hold the trunk and hood open? They took up no usable space, and never needed replacement. Thanks for redesigning the door holds so they actually work. Brakes are also greatly improved over 1st Gen.

Another thing I'd like to see added is dual zone heat/AC controls.

Yes, but they will be producing something in that size range, even if it is a RWD. I guess what I'd like to see is for DC to produce as fine a car as possible without breaking the bank. Little things like road noise and hard plastic interiors leave a bad impression on prospective buyers. A few thoughtful amenities can sway a lot of buyers.

a): I don't have any problems with excessive noise, I actually find my car TOO quiet. I think DC fixed noise problems cause my parents TD a 2000 SE and were gonna buy it, but the noise was unbearable to them. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that my car came with Michelins???
b): Nozzles on the arms REALLY suck, trust me.
c): Never had problems with the wiper blades skipping, but I have aftermarket PIAA wipers now anyways.
d): CAN'T WAIT for the exhaust to fall off. Exhaust system is soooooooo quiet :(
e): ABS isn't that great and most times I wish I didn't have it. Guess I could pull the fuse though.
f): Soft surfaces??? Ever sat in a GM??? Although the Intrepid doesn't really have "soft surfaces", it's still WAY better than a comparably priced GM.
g): A CD player was standard equipment on ALL 2002's. I thought it was standard equipment on all 2nd gens 2000 and up??? Maybe the standard CD player was only in Canada though???

WHAT THE INTREPID is REALLY missing:

1) 5-speed manual option
2) 2-door option
3) HEATED leather seats
