97 transmission in a 95 intrepid?

Hey everyone,

My dad has a 1995 Intrepid and the transmission went on it last year. We took it apart to find that 3rd and 4th gear clutches were literally burnt and this was the reason the car went into limp mode. We replaced the clutches and it seems that were are getting symptons of the same thing again. So my dad wants to get a 1997 tranny and swap it in, my question is, is it a direct bolt up or not.

Thanks,

Jacob

It will bolt up fine. Try to get a 00+ trans if possible.

Limp mode could be caused by some other things:

So an 00+ trans will bolt right up too?
What about the electronics and all that?

Yep. Same trans, but better parts. Sensors and hook ups should be the same. ACR uses a 2nd gen trans, so it will work for sure.

I have it listed on the performance FAQ.

But will it work without modification? A bolt in affair?

Thanks hypnos!

So a 2000 tranny will bolt up and we WILL NOT have to change the ECU in order for it to function properly?

Is the 2000 tranny the newest tranny that will go in and how much do these go for. I know a '97 goes around for 800 CAN.

Thanks again! Your halp is greatly appreciated!
