Traded the trep in tonight

Well we took delivery of our 03 chevy venture tonight. I talked garbage about getting rid of the trep but to be honest I kind of hated to let her go but with 4 kids a minivan suits us better. It got old trying to stuff 4 kids ,the wife and myself in the trep. Not to mention that 4 kids in the back seat is illegal as hell. I will continue to hang out here if I am welcome. I hear alot of talk when people no longer have their treps and still post. I will leave that up to you all. Should I stay or should I go??Crombie feel free to come hang out, drink some brew and go fishing anytime you want buddy. Also I want to thank everybody for all the info and advice that you all give. Certainally the best forum and best group of people I have ever been a part of.

Good Lord 4 kids in a trepid...WOW!!

I would bet you got tired just thinking of loading up the family to go somewhere. I think you made the wise choice with the minivan with a growing family of that size.

Maybe when Crombie stops by, while you send him to the frig to get a couple of cold ones you can take his trepid for a spin around the block. Just for ole' time sakes..

I would have done the same, in fact I would have done it 1 kid ago.

I presently use the LHS to haul around 3 kids and with the youngest taking up the middle with her car seat it no longer feels like a full size car back there.

you are more than welcome to stay and post for as long as you like Jerry

Congrats on thinking like a family guy and not a man obsessed with staying away from practical transportation

Hey Jerry! Glad that you thought of your family when you picked up your Venture. Family is always #1. No matter what. In my opinion: You are still welcome here. You did own an Intrepid. And therefore you can add insight from your expierences with the SE when someone needs assistance. Your posts have always been helpful in my eyes. Stay a member of this great site. This site is intended for "fans" and owners of the LH series car. Look at Intrepidatious.... he used to own a SE... now he owns a Neon. Not only is he still a active member to the site, but he still is a moderator.
Oh and have no fears, I still plan on taking up your offer of chugging back some brews, and going fishing. I just need to get off my ass and check my calendar for a good weekend. I'll pm you about it.

Lol.... I have no problem with anyone driving my trep. As long they have a valid drivers license and I am in the passengers seat.
P.S.
For every mile driven by Jerry = 1 beer for me.
So what do you say? A trip to Annapolis? ;) lol...

APRIL 2003 IOM
Current car: 2009 Toyota Corolla Type S (Thinking what my first mod will be)

2nd car: 2000 Dodge Intrepid SE Clear Corners, Exhaust, and Rims are just SOME of the goodies installed...

An Intrepid, or any 4-door sedan for that matter, is practical for families with 1 or 2 kids... but any more than that and a minivan is far more appropriate.

Glad everybody is still warm with me. I would hate the cold shoulder!
Crombie--- ANYTIME BRO.. you just let me know when you can make it down this way and I will MAKE time to do the important $hit... (brews ,fishing...and yeah... driving your trep..LOL ) As for everybody else. Thanks for allowing me to stay with you fine bunch of people. I have been a member of many forums and this one BY FAR has the best bunch of people I have ran across. We traded our trep in last night and it is on the line already to be sold. My co-worker--good friends mom totaled her grand am and he is looking for a good car for her and I think he is going up to the dealer to see what kind of deal they can make him on my trep! He knows how I take care of my $hit and he is the one who bought my Iroc. I will keep you all posted. I would love to be able to still see our trep throughout its life and drive it from time to time. Corny I know but although it was an SE it was a really nice car. I know if his mom gets it the trep will continue to have synthetic oil and be run real easily. (she is in her 70s)
Anyway dont want to put anybody to sleep here. Just wanted to thank you all for the kind words and yes the family is the most important thing... At least we didnt get the windstar...LOL

jerry i know the feeling about the 4 kids, and a mini van is the only way to go, sorry about you turning in the trep, but when the kids are older, maybe the trep name will be back and you will have a new one.

I guess I shoud explain why I chose the Chevy over the Dodge.. The 03 Dodge was marked down to 21k. I told the Dodge dealer when I went in there (last dealer..giving him a chance to keep me in a mopar) that I would be more than willing to buy another chrysler product if they would treat a current customer right (decent trade in) . They gave me the same trade as the chevy dealer gave ($7k) but they werent willing to work on the price of the van. If fairness to Dodge the caravan was much better equiped than our venture. It had keyless entry and cd player. Basically it was a much better van than what we got but with us being upside down with the trep we had to get what we could afford. The ventures sticker was $22,500. They had something like $5k rebate for the leftover 03s.(all said and done we got the venture for 16,700 + the difference on the trep) To make things simpler we had to get the cheapest one because with the caravan our payments would have been around $600 a month... Take in mind now that we filed bankruptcy in 97. Everytime we get another vehicle the interest rate goes down. We were paying 17.9% on the trep. With the venture we have a 12.9% rate... Not great but getting better.Dont mean to bore you all with every little detail but we are all honest people in here. Just figured I should explain why we chose the chevy over the dodge...

I was just thinking why you chose Chevy. Bottom line, brand loyalty comes second to what is right for the family all considered. Great to see you'll still be around. There may come a time when I will need some insight into my SE. Hopefully that day will never come......:mg:

I am surprised that you can actually get credit after filing for bankruptcy... but man 17% I think I am paying half that on my credit card... paying $368 a month on almost 20K loan over 5 yrs at 3.99% on my G35...

It's too bad your co-worker couldn't have bought the car directly from you. You could have made a little extra and he could have saved a little ... now the dealer is going to be collecting the profit.

I wish I had traded my Intrepid with my mother ... she has an Alero and compared to an Intrepid it's a real junker... I did try to get my brother to buy it for what I was trading it in for which would have been a real deal for him but he didn't want to do it.
