Speeding Ticket

I have a court date coming up with the Dallas police department, for speeding (88 in a 60). I have already taken defensive driving and done a deferred adjudification probation period. (I took defensive driving when i first got my license, less than a year ago) Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get out of this?

and anybody who is just gonna tell me that i was going too fast or i should slow down next time, well ive already figured that out, so constructive replies only.

Go to court and be respectful and show willingness to accept responsibility for your actions. That's the best you can do at this point. 28 over is a pretty stiff penalty in most areas. Usually, going to court will help get your fines reduced, but not always. A lot of it depends on your attitude with the judge, and what kind of mood he/she is in before you get there. Good luck!

Oh...and SLOW down! lol!

I think that right there just did it in for you. I assume your probation period hasn't ended yet? If not, you'll likely get hit for both offenses (this one and the one you were awarded the deferred judgement for) as one of the conditions is not to get cited again during probation...

True. Also believe it or not: Appearance. Yes how you look can make or break you also. I have been to court 3 times in my life. All three times, I have worn a clean, pressed suit and tie, fresh haircut, shaved, and trimmed my goatee up. If you stroll in wearing shorts and a tee shirt, heh... that will show the judge that you really don't care. And In2Deep also stated respect, and attitude. "Yes, your honor", "no your honor" would not hurt either.

Good advice...seems like about the best you can do in this situation.

3.5Rocksolid96,
Silver bullet will get You screwed(his advice). Follow the directions for attitude and accepting responsibility. Dress and groom well. Explain you realize you were wrong and am sorry. Acknowledge that it won't happen again. AND ask the judge, because of insurance costs and the fact that you are saving for college, You plead with the court to please allow you to pay the fine in full but request that the charge be reduced to a non-moving violation(defective equipment or something(that does not influence insurance or your record)). Don't try to claim your speedo was off, just acknowledge that you used poor judgement, You don't do that normally, and ask for the charge reduction. Take Care and Drive a tad slower, -John
