Vets Day

A soldier lay fallen and gravely wounded. Against his officers’ orders, the sergeant crawled forward at great risk to himself, and dragged his fallen comrade back to the foxhole. Both were mortally wounded. The officer, furious at the sergeant for disobeying his order yelled “ Now look! I’ve lost you both! It wasn’t worth it!” “Yes it was Sir” the sergeant said. “ For when I reached him he said, ‘Jim… I knew you would come".

To all my lost Brothers and my Brothers still fighting the fight, worry not, not one of us has ever fought nor died in vain. We will once again, together, slip quietly through the sky on a dark and moonless night. We will rendezvous with destiney once more.

Hats off and a big salute to all Vets!

WAR IS AN UGLY THING, BUT NOT THE UGLIEST OF THINGS; THE DECAYED AND DEGRADEDSTATE OF MORAL AND PATRIOTIC FEELINGS, WHICH THINKS THAT NOTHING IS WORTH WAR IS MUCH WORSE. A MAN WHO HAS NOTHING FOR WHICH HE IS WILLING TO FIGHT NOTHING HE CARES FOR MORE THAN HIS PERSONAL SAFTETY; IS A MISERABLE CREATURE, WHO HAS NO CHANCE OF BEING FREE UNLESS MADE AND KEPT SO BY THE EXERTIONS OF BETTER MEN THAN HIMSELF.

While standing in my First Sergeants office one day wondering if what I was doing really made a difference I read and memorized this quote. From that day forward there has never been a doubtr in my mind. SEMPER FIDELIS! OOH RAH!

To all who served and died for their country and our freedom, be it Canada (Rememberance Day) or The United States (Veteran's Day).

Thank You! You will not be forgotten!

I hope all allied countries take time to remember their fallen soldiers!

Happy Veterans Day! Each year I get a card from my brother.
I also remember and pray for my grandfather who passed away almost 12 yrs ago. He served in the Navy during WW2 and the Korean War. :(

To all of you who posted on this thread, from a very greatful veteran, a heart-fealt "Thank You" for remembering us. As usual, I worked at my job manufacturing aircraft hardware (military and commercial) along with several fellow veterans who received no special recognition, but instead witnessed bankers, postal workers, and many other non military individuals enjoy the day off. It is now evening, and this is the very first thank you I have seen today. This is one greatful Viet Nam veteran who genuinely appreciates the recognition we receive here.

We rarely get a chance to see another country's editorial about the USA.

Read this excerpt from a Romanian Newspaper. The article was written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published under the title "C"ntarea Americii meaning "Ode To America") on September 24, 2002 in the Romanian newspaper Evenimentulzilei ("The Daily Event" or "News of the Day").

~An Ode to America~

Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another even if you painted them all one color! They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs. Still, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put on the
heart. Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the army, and the secret services that they are only a bunch of losers.

Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts. Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about. The Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand.

After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every place and on every car a government official or the president was passing.

On every occasion, they started singing their traditional song:
"God Bless America!" I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the
plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people.

How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being?

Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put in a collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit, which no money can buy.

What on earth can unite the Americans in such a way?
Their land? Their galloping history? Their economic Power? Money? I tried for hours to find an answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding commonplace.

I thought things over, but I reached only one conclusion...Only freedom can work such miracles.

Happy Veteran's Day!

A proud thank you to all the families who have served our country throughout the years.

Proud to be an American and a Veteran!

God bless the USA!

Some of you know me, but most of you don't. In my opinion the greatest thing that I could do would be to serve my country. Unfortunately due to a recessive genes that both of my parents carried I will never be able to do that. I thank those who do serve for protecting the freedoms of which I so much enjoy. I will do what I can behind the scenes to create better technology that will help protect out men and women in uniform. So I know I'm late but happy veterans day.
