transmission for real

My 96 has some tranny issues. i had it rebuilt and ever since it's giving me a hard time. every time i slow down but not fully stop my tranny forgets to downshift and it usually downshifts all the gears when the car is fully stopped and it gives that jerking motion. and if i don't make a full stop but just slow down and then try to accelerate again it goes into this funny hickup mode where it just makes the car go crazy. and then after a while it realizes that it has to shift the gears.

what is that all about? and what should i consider to do??

someone told me that i just need to reset the tranny computer and that will take care of the problem.

i am waiting for suggestions.....
thanks for now.

well.. sounds like the computer doesn't know what to do.

Try resetting the computer(s) by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, then reconnecting. Go for a "spirited" drive (meaning, get on it when accelerating through ALL the gears) so it can re-learn what it needs to learn.

Maybe that will fix it?

I know that if the computer is doing what it is supposed to be doing, and there isn't another problem, disconnecting the batt and givin it hell might do the trick. It may take more than one drive though, but you'll feel the difference. I know when I first started driving my trep, she'd been sitting for awhile, and I had to reteach her third gear. A little footshifting here and there to get her thinking again and she started doin' the shift thing on her own.

lol , I can't wait to have tranny issues. I'm used to old muscle cars and if this thing acts up on me I'll be stuffing in a V8 with a TH400 and converting it to RWD lol

Did the shop that put the trans in put correct fluid in it? I had a rebuilt installed in my '93 Intrepid and they put "DEXRON" fluid in it and it acted very strange (similar to what you describe) I had the fluid flushed out and used the ATF+3 Mopar fluid ,cleared the computer memory (disconnect the battery for 30 seconds -1 minute) and the thing was fine after that, I was surprised how much of a difference the improper fluid can make, but the difference was huge! check the link on Allpar.com here:
