fast and furious

I figure most folks here are car guys, trep of course. I had a question about the movie fast and the furious. were most of the cars turbo and NOS or just NOS? vin diesel's red supra sorta disappeared in the middle of the movie and they concentrated on Walkers supra. a turbo takes a lot of room for parts but NOS is just plumbing for the most part and stick the tank in the trunk. I suppose thats why you don't seem many turbo treps.

the red car was an RX-7, not a supra

first off yes, a turbo does take a lot more work than nitrous but most of the cars they were using come factory with one (eclipse, supra, RX-7, skyline etc) it's a lot easier to upgrade an existing turbo than starting from scratch

the main reason you don't see "many" turbo intrepids is that people simply aren't willing to make that expensive of a modification to their cars

also...it only cost 500 bucks in parts to run nitrous oxide compared to 4000 for a turbo set up.

you cannot compare nitrous and turbo , they are two different animals.

turbochargers create boost (as do superchargers) , nitrous does not. Hence why you can run a turbocharger and still squeeze out some more power with the addition of a nitrous.

How much it costs depends on your resources, how much you know, and how far you want to go.

You could get some mandrel U bends for intake piping from JC whitney, a used T4, custom exhuast piping, and a piggy back fuel management system (not including a new pump and injectors) for maybe just under $2gs total. Granted, you could only go to maybe like 2 psi on the stock fuel system. But it really depends on who does your exhuast work.

Eclipses, RX-7s, and Supras all have turbo models.

most of the cars in that movie were stock. They just filmed it really fancy. Creative camera angles are what made the cars look fast.
