be gone for awhile

hey everybody! just wanted to bid a sort of fond farewell to all you great folks on this site. My daughter total lossed her car about a week ago (yes, she is unhurt thank goodness!)...but she is also without much money for wheels. I went on the hunt to try and find her something cheap but had lots of reservations about giving her a car with a high breakdown potential when she lives 4 hours away. My son agreed to let her have his Ford Escort if he could inheret my Intrepid. (I had actually been considering passing it on to him when I bought my next car. He's wanted it for quite awhile.)...So it seems that process got accelerated a bit. He is very happy with the car and I told him about the website and invited him to come on board. (don't know what he'll do on that one)...I then set about trying to find myself an inexpensive ride. I really wasn't financially prepared to go car hunting right now but thats how things go sometimes when you be Da Daddy. I'm sorry to report that I searched in vain for another LH car...I even tried to find a "cloud car" so I could at least get on Stratusphere, I even dipped down to trying to land a LeBaron convertible. But alas, it seemed as if it were not to be. I could not walk away from a really great bargain when it stares you in the face, so now there is a '93 Chevy Lumina Euro Coupe outside in the driveway. My lovely wife sought to console me by telling me, "relax, this is not the last car you will ever own." She really can be my voice of reason when my brain gets too far into overdrive. So I'm afraid I'll be spending some time over on the W-body website boneing up on the new wheels. It's been a blast guys, and thanks SO much to everyone here for all the support and help you've sent my way. I'll try to make it a point to stop in from time to time and see whats cookin with the new LX machines....and btw, all my best to YB and otto on getting back to work. DC definitely did you guys dirty and in no way do you deserve such harsh treatment.
Happy Holidays to all and may God bless
later!

After owning a Trep, I think you would be sadly disappointed with a Cloud car. This comes from experience. My lovely Strat is getting both wheel bearing assy's replaced today (left and right) and it only has 60K on it. Although I don't hate my Strat, I prefer driving my wife's Trep any day. Maybe if it wasn't an R/T I wouldn't feel quite as strongly about it. On the other hand my Strat does get almost 30 mpg whereas the best we get out of the R/T is maybe 20-22 mpg.
You may actually enjoy the Lumina Euro as a friend of mine has enjoyed his for several years now with a minimum of problems.
You know, just because you don't own a Trep any more doesn't exclude you from the site. There are other members who are "used to own" members. The site is for people who appreciate the Dodge Intrepid. Glad to hear the daughter is OK. Accidents in the family do tend to turn your world upside down regardless if someone is hurt or not. At least she is not afraid to get behind the wheel again.

You can still come by and visit ;) I still go off and harass the RX7 folks once in a blue moon (mostly when I am bored) and I sold my 7 2+ years ago. Sounds like you are good father, God bless, there are not enough around.

I have a 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son, I know the day is coming when Daddy will be asked to part with a car for a child - not unprecidented, I bought a Cloud car for my mother in law recently (I actually liked it, but it is not a Trep, it is a MUCH smaller car and feels that way - you see some out there pretty cheap - ours was $1200 for a 98).

thanks for all the well wishing guys...I gave $2300 for the Lumina, which I suppose if I'd had more time I might have been able to drum up another LH (I did actually lookat three in this price range but they were in mighty poor condition) I missed the boat on a silver 96ES (sunroof, autostick and all) but the guy sold it 2 days before I could drive up to see it (*&%$#@!) oh well, who knows what the future holds, maybe DC will release this Magnum/Charger sedan to replace the Trep and I'll go nuts and put myself inhock up to my eyeballs! then I'll be back with a vengance! Happy Holidays everyone!
