let's not overlook the fact that there seven people in the car and that they were speeding and driving reckless both before the police started to chase as well as after they broke off the chase

Sad, yes. Any life lost is never a good thing. But geez, you can't be stupid behind the wheel and expect any other outcome. I feel for the families of the kids.

thats terrible...

my condolences go out to the families, as i lost 3 of my friends in a car accident, also involving speeds, but higher, (around 120 mph), and i know how that feels to lose loved ones.

It hurts the friends and families most. I feel really bad for them (and anyone here that has ever had to suffer a loss of a friend).

1. What the hell 7 people were trying to do in an intrepid is beyond me. This is stupid

2. Why NONE of them were wearing seatbelts is beyone me. This is stupid

3. Why they tried to out-run the police is beyone me. This is stupid

4. Why there were swerving in the first place is beyone me, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt with this one.

There could have been several steps taken to prevent such a tragic loss of life. Ultimatly, it was the drivers decision to outrun the cops, and so, IMO, he is worthy of the Darwins Award.

And on another topic, if any of you ever ride with me, I won't move the car until every seatbelt is buckled, you don't like it, get out and walk. Another reason why this driver is an idiot.

Somehow I have the feeling that the parents will blame the police for this, even though they broke of pursuit.

It is sad that people get a feeling of invinsibility in a car, and tragedies like this happen. Hopefully this will make at least on driver think about how they handle themselves on the road, and change how they drive.

Thank you Randy. The car was stolen. Also, according to other articles, one of those lowlifes was wanted in connection to a home invasion earlier in the day.

Looks like they were on their way to being real upstanding citizens.

The only sad thing about it is the parents who have to bury their kids.
