Question 99 300M - Buy or not?

Lots of 300Ms with 50-110k have been on sale locally for $10k, and I'm very seriously considering one this fall. The carpoint reviews show mostly pleased comments from owners.

What do you guys think of the cost of maintenance and reliability of that 3.5? Any high mileage examples on the board?

How is road noise, since I do mostly highway driving?

I LOVE that analog clock. Its just like my Q45!

Thanks!

Sorry about the n00b questions (never owned a Chrysler) but what were the different trim levels and packages?

Any year 300m in any trim should be a great value. Its a beautiful car, excellent performance and very reliable.

My brother-in-law has a black 99 300m with a 3.5. He has high mileage and it's been flawless.

I have a 2000 300M and it has been fine. I have had it since new but I only have 11,000 miles on it. You may want to go to the 300M Enthusianst club http://www.300mclub.org for more information as well.

I do drive daily, my commute is only 3 miles round trip. In the summer ride the Harley. I gave up commuting several years ago, got tied of sitting a car for couple hours a day. So, I bought a house near my place of employment.

I had a 99 LHS (Basically the same car, just a bit bigger) and it was a great car. Comfy and it comes LOADED. The only options for those cars is moonroof and chrome wheels. They come with standard heated leather seats, dual power seats, cruise, ac, cd/am fm/ cassete, etc. Really loaded. I bought a used one with 32k miles on it and traded it in with 102k miles. No real major engine problems at all. It's powerful too, but not as powerful as my new car, 04 Grand Prix GTP Comp G.

Jesda-300M is great car
I bought my 01 7/03 with 60K-95K now-no problemsjust make sure its been taken care of..use only ATF+4 Mopar tranny fluid
Keep in mind however that timing belt and water pump are 100K maintenance items---you'll be the $600-700 ball park at your freindly 5* for wate4rpump,timing belt, 5yr coolant, and trans frain/flush and fill --I would pay in the area of 8-9,000 for a 99 with that mileage probably in the 8,000-8500 range unless I knew the particuliars of the car. Other than that 99 basicly had power window motor problems-but at this point if the work I would say that had been taken care of. when you get closer look at car check the diagnostic codes-sit in car turn key on-off -on-off-on watch the odometer it will run any codes showing up. Might or might not be important..basicilly a nice road car. you shuld enjoy
