Smile Carpet repair in 20 min or less

Unfortunately I developed carpet wear on the drivers side just to the right of the accelerator on the side of the hump. I drove my Trep to the nearest reputable upholstery shop and they said there was nothing they could do? they could glue on a patch but it will not hold as my foot will eventually grab an edge and pull it off, they could sew it on but they would have to pull the carpet. Frustrated I drove to Pep Boys and bought a heel patch which was pretty close to the type of material I currently have but they only had black and a strong tannish color. I waited a day thinking what the upholstery shop owner had said and this with the awful color match I was dismayed. Suddenly it came to me, I took a carpenters knife and cut out the bad worn piece of carpet, I placed it over the new piece I had bought from Pep Boys and traced it, I then cut it out, used some SEM color matching paint and glued it with Elmers carpenter glue where I had previously removed the worn piece and to my surprise it looked overwhelmingly awesome with the exception of a shade darker but I plan on either cutting a small piece of the original carpet from some inconspicuous area or from another Trep if I can find one at a junk yard.

Just a thought....but isn't that why we have floormats....to avoid the wear and tear on the carpet in the first place?

Floormats = 2 minute (or less) damage prevention

That is true but if you read the thread again you will realize that the worn piece is above the coverage of the mat., on the center hump just right of your right foot. Unfortunately the accelerator is too close to the hump and your foot is always resting there.
