Chrysler ME FOUR-TWELVE concept & more

I stumbled onto this Official DCX Concepts page. It is up to date with pics and descriptions of Dodge, Chrysler & JEEP concepts past and present.

JEEP Rescue (HUMMER H2 sized JEEP)
Dodge Sidewinder (an old concept that makes you realize how unoriginal the Chevy SSR is and underpowered.)

Enjoy...I hope this link hasn't already been posted. highlights

Looking over these Showcar pics has me puzzling about the future Intrepid/Concorde. So far the new 300C is a replacement for the 300M. The Magnum is a new addition. A Magnum sedan would have been a no brainer for a replacement for the Intrepid had it's concept the Super HEMI 8 not been a complete disaster. Since the base 300 is to have the 2.7L engine it could be argued that this is the Concorde replacement.
I have read a suggestion that the Chrysler Airflite is intended to be a concorde replacement. It is based on a shortened LX platform and is V6 powered and but is a 5 door hatchback. If DCX follows their platform sharing practice it could be that the Intrepid replacement is hiding in plain view as the un-Charger like Avenger Concept. Comparing the Airflite and the Avenger: their dimensions are within inches of each other, 3.5L V-6 power, 5 door hatchback, the fuel filler cap is located in the same odd location. Differences being the Avenger's increased ride height, all-wheel drive and distinctly different body styling.

There may not be one direct replacement for both the Intrepid & Concorde. But, each could have there places filled by more than one car. We can still be suprised by a Charger concept inspired Intrepid replacement. AMENDED: The JEEP Varsity concept also shares many similarities with the Avenger/Airflite.

I thought the Venom was pretty awesome too - looks a lot like a Charger!

Anybody noticed the specs on the Intrepid ESX and the Intrepid ESX2? Glad that didn't pan out. If it did, I wouldn't be driving one today.

How about the Sebring Special, that looks cool

It says the 300 was supposed to have an 8.0L V10.

# Engine:8.0-liter V10Multipoint electronic fuel-injected
# Transmission: Four-speed automatic
# Body: Four-passenger sport sedan
# Brakes: Four-wheel disc
# Suspension: Independent
Man, the interior of the LHX concept looked soo nice

I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but most don't seem very impressing. All of the interiors look unbelievable, but flipping through the Chrysler section, I felt like I was looking at 40 different photochops of a PT Cruiser. The Intrepid concepts lose me; no other way to describe it. I really like the Viper concepts though, as well as the Charger.

The ESX was renamed the Intrepid ESX after the 2G 'treps got the production go-ahead.

My Bro-in-Law drove the ESX in Detroit and said it hauled considerable ass. The only downside was the price of the battery pack and it's 3 year replacement cycle.

Imagine 125 hp at **each** of the drive wheels. Not 225/250 at the engine and then losing 25% of it through transaxle losses. Electric motors can go from 0-100 percent power in fractions of a second. The 'torque curve' on a well-designed electric drive train looks more like an on-off switch.

A few years back Jeep openly showed a Grand Cherokee with a modified ESX electric drive except that there were motors on each wheel for free-wheeling full-time AWD.

This time around D/C had solved the energy density/price/longevity issues of the battery pack. At one time this new drive line was planned for the 2004 Durango. Merc chopped that offering after the cash losses of the past two years.

Merc has always been hostile to electric drive research. Even in Germany they leave it to the Swatch/SmartCar project and are careful to keep the scale of things such that the C and E class cash cows aren't threatened by a disruptive tech like workable electric drive for full-sized cars.

The closest we're going to get to an alternative drive line from D/C is the new-gen turbo diesel Liberty that is being introduced in Europe and may be released in the 'states as a mid-year option.

Boy from what your saying it looks like the ze Germans are gonna let the Japanese take over in this new emerging market with the Prius and the like. 250 hp at the wheels instantly in the esx! If the takeover would'nt have happened, what we would be looking to as a replacement for the 2nd gen treps?
