Newbie Question

Hey everybody. I just bought an 04 ES (3000 km ago), and recently found this great site. I didn't realize there were so many cool things to do / add to an Intrepid by yourself. My question is... Does adding these mods (ie. the EVIC or OTIS, or even the LED reflector) to the car void any warranty? Seems to me that the dealer would love to use that as a reason to charge you for repairs (even if they are not specifically related to the mod.

Thanks in advance. I hope to include a pic and specs to my profile shortly.

I dont see any reason why an evic (electronic vehicle information center) would void a warranty...it tells you whats going on with your ride, doesnt actually DO anything. The only thing i think of that would void a warranty is exhaust or intake and almost everyone on this site has either on and has had no problems. Just do what you want to do to your car...it's your car, you bought it, dont be limited by a contract...just go for it. My '03 only has 8,000 miles and look at all my mods

Besides, if you do something to a car and have a problem with the car later on, just install the OEM parts back onto the car before you bring it in. My fiancée's family are mostly dealership mechanics, and they said that in order for them to void a warranty, they have to see the aftermarket part installed on your car. They get cars that come back all the time (cause two of them work for Honda) with suspect problems, but cause they can't prove that the customer had a particular item installed on the car, they repair those under warranty all the time.

At least in the states you are protected by law that any modification you perform to your car not explicitly denied in your warranty cannot void your warranty unless it can be proven that the problem was a direct result of the modification. This can be hard to prove or dissprove, but the burden of proof lies with the dealer...
