As far as I know there is no Intrepid with a 3.2 H.O. It's only the 3.5 that is High Output....For 2004, though there's no more 3.2L they kept the 2.7 (wrong move) and there's the 3.5L and the 3.5L High Output only difference is horses really....but dont go with the 2.7......I think you know why.....anyways

There was a change in output early in 2001 due to Cali emissions

they should have dropped the 2.7, it would have saved the company money, since the 3.2 is just a debored and destroked 3.5, and they could get rid of the whole engine bay design, and no longer have to deal with the 2.7. Plus, that would make the intrepid much more viable in all of the comparisons, since they always seem to want the base model of the intrepid to stagger results the other way, such as in the mid-price car and driver comparison, they made sure they had the lowest priced intrepid which was $3000 less than all of the other cars in the test, but the ES at the time with 34 more HP than the SE was availabe for that extra $3000 and it would have had leather seats, and won the comparo

basically....everything i have seen indicates the 3.2 is just a debored\destroked 3.5, but instead of doing that, just get hte jet power control for it, which adds about 15 HP, im thinkin about getting one

The difference is only the bore size. 92mm versus 96mm.
And you can not bore out the engine.

Chrysler needed to have the 2.7 in the LH and the JR to ammortize costs.
Although they could have (should have) made the 2.7 standard in the JR and the 3.5 standard in the LH2
