My 5.0 Find!!

Ok as some of you well know aside from my beloved intrepid i also own a 85 lx/gt mustang that has a 351, the car is in workable shape but far from nice. Ive always told myself that if i find that right gt 87-92 id jump on it and i finally found it but im a little strapped for cash so im in a tough spot. I found for sale a 1989 gt mustang fully loaded with every option i can see except leather. The guy is looking to get 3,450 out of the car and he seems very firm on his price. the car is in extremly nice shape except for the fact that some one keyed the car and the paint now has scratches all the way around it, the other problem was that the rear ground effect also has a crack in it. The interior is absolutly beautifull and the paint although scratched is perfect. the car is a one owner and has been garaged every winter. the best part about it is that the car only has 76k actuall miles!!! what do you guys think? should i pass? is he asking to much? or should i just sell the farm and buy the fucker because if i dont im sure ill regret it later?

do you think you will find another in the condition for the price???
if you dont think so, then grab it, if you think you can, then go for it.

I am not a fan of that year but that kinda deal with that kinda mileage...it's your call but I think you would kick your self if you passed it up.

Yeah and don't forget the one owner history. Anything else you find in the year has probably been beat on by a bunch of kids. Sorry guys just my age coming out haha.

Go for it ... and can't you recover part of the money by selling the one you have?

Not with a 2.7 you can't!!! But, you're wrong, you CAN do that in an Intrepid.........front wheels, may need a bit of water/bleach/tire shine............

There aren't too many who want to try it (including myself)........because I REALLY don't want to go about replacing my tires sooner than I absolutely have to :hehe:

Hmmm...I may have to argue with that....For the same amount of money (for the very same parts!) I'd take a TBird over a mustang of the same year. Mainly cuz there are Mustangs on every corner...Nice TBirds aren't nearly as "common". But that's just me...I like to be different!

I should have my deal wrapped up on a '92 TBird Sport in 2 weeks! Woohoo!!

Oh...and Clone...GO FOR IT!! Grab it up and enjoy man!

I think you better change your sig ... I haven't seen any sign of a "recovery".

I agree.

Clone, there are a lot of good points on here.

1. One owner
2. Winter Stored
3. Clean
4. What you've been looking for
5. Low milage

This would be a VERY difficult car to pass up. I'd say buy it.

Man you better get on that thing. Those fox body stangs are great. I have a 85.5 Mustang Gt. Last of the carbed! I love it. Stangs definitly have te best bang for the buck AND are very modable. ID SAY GO FOR IT! Good luck.

rear ground effect broken?

Possibilities: he broke it backing into a snow drift, someone rear-ended him, or he took a RR track crossing too fast and bounced the car.

In any case I'd put it on a frame rack at the local body shop before I'd spend any $$ on it.

every fox body stang around here has that cracked bumper in the rear its not that big of a deal, but might as well have a good mechanic check it out

If you really want it buy it. Its getting really hard to come by a nice unmolested fox body. If insurance wasn't a problem for me i would have picked up a newer (nicer condition) stang.
