stock cars

in the Cascar series, there are at least 9 intrepids running out of the 32 registered, just think it is definitely starting to show which car is superior, while there are only 6 tauri and 9 grand prixs running, with the rest being monte carlos, just to show that dodge is coming on strong in stock car racing after just a couple years in it, not having the about 10 years pontiac has had to get the grand prix right, and the constant spending by GM, hopefully the Intrepids will make a strong showing at daytona next week in qualifying, then hold that through the 500

Just in case you're interested Dodge is now selling crate motors for racing--Jeggs/Summit are a couple of outlets. What are they running in the Treps on the track please don't tell me 2.7's?

If it's the same engine I watched them design on TLC a few years ago then, yes, it's a small block hemi - probably the precurser to the "new" street hemi ...

Ya, the 360 Magnum block, which I don't think will interchange with the old LA block ... :(
But they might release the heads in the LA version since there are so many out there on the racing circuits ...

the blocks are the same, it is all of the top of the motor that needs to be changed, it is basically the heads, intake, cam, and such that needs to be changed, but the blocks are the same i believe

I, too, thought they were the same block until I started reading through the 2003 MMP Muscle catalog. I have seldom paid attention to the LA's (my Bird's a 440) but I found this on page 23: "Cast iron 'A' engine" ... "Machining for pre-magnum head oiling ...". Also, under the heads on page 25: "heads ... for pre-Magnum engines fit ..." and go on to list every LA engine up to 1992 (the Magnum came out in '93 with the new truck design). I didn't see any heads listed for the Magnum, even though they sell the Magnum crate engine, so I have to assume they are in some other catalog? Just from reading this, it looks like the blocks are different - at least the heads they have listed apparently do not fit the Magnum block, just the old, LA block.
