more troubles for this rediculously bad week

so as many of you know, i blew up my engine on monday afternoon which is going to run me around $1800 for a new engine. Well today, driving my parents windstar to my first class, i found a parking spot, pulled in, only to hear scraping along the side. i backed out and went to a different spot to see the damage...doesnt look too bad, looks like the dent can be popped out. went back to the ram i hit, and NOT A DAMN SCRATCH anywhere. so after my class, i went and got an estimate from the guy that does all my repair work...$1400!!!

$3200 in one week is way too much money for a student to come up with.

oh and my mom slid off the road outside detroit and slid into a tree, totalling her blazer. so overall, you know, its been a great week for me

peace

Man oh man, when it rains it pours, eh? Sorry to hear about all your bad luck, and I hope it turns around real soon!
I do sorta wonder if your mechanic is taking you for a ride with the engine, though. I don't buy into the "It sounds blown" story..

Oops, just read your other thread about losing all the oil. Ignore the "mechanic" sentence.

Dude, I'd seriously go back to bed and try again later. :mg: They say bad things come in threes so hopefully this will be it. Have you tried to pop the dent yourself? Maybe you could save yourself some money that way.

Hope everything work out for you.

Dude I'm sorry, i know exactly how you feel, a little while back over a period of three weeks the following happened; i got hit in my maxima- backed into in a church parking lot by a mazda tribute $700+ worth of damage, then some idiot in a jeep cherokee, on his driveway backed into my Firebird bent up the hood- $800+ worth to replace it not including paint, then my mom was out in the family suburban and some guy plowed his dodge caravan van up under the trailor hitch- $0 worth of damage, suburbans are tough as nails, not a scratch on the thing been hit three times in it, and once backed over a geo metro

getting hit sucks!

My old ford van was like that, could hit anything without a dent or scratch. I think I need to find another one of those.

Look for a shop that does paintless dent removal. Your shop is more then likely going to just replace the panel, and paint it.

yeah parking in a parking lot is overrated anyways. i parallel park on my street everyday and never have a problem, but this one time of course i have to hit it.

hypnos...do you think they would do a free estimate at a paintless dent place?

as dumb as it sounds... have you tried buffing that out a bit with something? my friend had a similar problem.. ford focus, sideswiped, no dents just a big scratch/smudge running the length of the car. about 15 minutes of rubbing with a soft towel and it came out. the dents are another story. above the wheel well looks like a job for the ding king, but the door looks like you'll need to pound it out, which isn't always an easy thing.

Bummer dude...just keep it in perspective - it's a car and it can be fixed. Luckily no one was hurt...you could be going to your moms funeral instead of trying to figure out how to fix a dent or two. We all tend to get worked up about this stuff but in the big picture of life it don't mean SQUAT.

That looks like it would pull out with a suction cup and most of the scratches would buff out.

No matter how good of a driver you are, we're, inevitably, all human, meaning we're susceptible to mistakes.

As a fellow student, I know your pain. If there's anything I could do to help, let me know, but I don't have money so that may limit your options.

Your dent looks like it can be pulled out. When someone backed into the driver's door in my Trep, it looked very similar to that. One place of course saw $$ and wanted to replace the skin and repaint and everything for $1200. Another place rubbed off the other car's bumber marks with his finger at the time of the estimate and said it'll be like a $100 to pull the dent out and buff it up.
