Is it AT ALL possible to convert manual operation windows into power windows??
I was thinking maybe the easiest is finding doors from a junked car that have the power module and then just wiring them to my car?
Or is there a kit that is WAY EASIER and possibly cheaper?
I'm grasping @ straws here, ain't i? lol
There are kits available for doing this. Basically they consist of a motor with flexible drive shafts that turn a gear which mounts over the shaft the manual handle turns. The thing to keep in mind is that you'll have plastic caps covering the shaft that will still be sticking through the door where the manual cranks used to be. It won't look 100% stock unless you convert the entire inner door assembly and door panel over to one that was originally power. The kits can be expensive and typically very time consuming to install, but I would say much easier than trying to swap everything out of a junked car...
lol well the two treps i've driven in both had roll down windows. the one i'm going to buy now has roll down windows with power locks.....strange combo if you ask me. hence why i'd like the power windows.
i've seen one first gen LH with manual windows, i've been spending a LOT of time in junkyards lately looking for a replacement drivers seat. i was baffled to see it myself. that car actully had the closest match to the seat i need, except it wasn't power, and didn't have the cupholder in the armrest (bench front seat) It didn't have 1 single option on it. the handle came through the speaker grill instead of a nice clean spot above or beside it. very strange indeed
