Silverstars sucks!

The left headlight is made by Streetglow ($30/pr at Best Buy) and the right headlight is a Sylvania Silverstar ($38/pr at Walmart).

My right headlight burnt out last night and so I took the opportunity to go get some of these Silverstars that everyone's been raging about. What a piece of crap! As you can see on that fresh snow, the Silverstars are still pretty yellow in light compared to the Streetglows. Needless to say, I'm returning these and going to Best Buy.

LOL............noone EVER said the Silverstars are the bluest bulb out there..............BUT..........as you can see, they are a whole bunch brighter than your Streetglow and they will outlast your Streetglow bulbs by quite a bit.

If you want blue bulbs and don't care about brightness or lifespan maybe Silverstars aren't your best option. I think that most people on the boards are looking for nighttime visability and not looking to change their bulbs every 3-6 months.

Nice pic though (now I know that if I'm looking for blue bulbs maybe the Streetglows are a good option)..........my lowbeams are gonna be Silverstars forever though.

I'm of the belief that the whitest bulb is the best. It doesn't look yellow in the pic at all, but looks quite white, especially compared to the blue bulb on the left. Higher temperature colors can strain your eyes long term. The right bulb seems to have a larger bright area to me.

I'm not speaking from personal experience here. I haven't used either bulb. I have heard both good and bad things about Silverstars. It just seems like they are better in that pic.

You have data to back up those claims, right?

The Streetglow bulbs, in my opinion look like they give off more detail and a better spread pattern.

baseing claims of a good "spread pattern", upon a pciture of somebody aiming their headlights into a dirty lumpy, uneven pile of snow is pretty funny.

Living up to your name.

Awesome!

It might not be the best way to determine the quality of the light, but the Streetglow bulb sure looks like it is producing a higher quality light that gives the lighted subject more detail than the Silverstar bulb.

Like I said, it was my opinion.

I think I'd have to go with the quanitity of the light from the Silverstars over the detail of the Streetglows. Personally I'd rather see the deer (or whatever) 1-2 seconds earlier with the Silverstars rather than not see it as soon but be able to tell the ambulance driver how many points it had on its antlers.

I also have Silverstars and think they look yellow. They aren't any better than the OEM bulbs that were in my car. Sure glad I spent the $37 for them.
